Kramer Foods, Hinsdale IL

 

I've been a fan of Kramer's in Hinsdale for over a decade.  It started when I went on a search for Marscapone Cheese.  I was making Tiramisu, which I had never tasted before let alone made, and the recipe called for Marscapone.  I had no idea what it was, and couldn't find it at the local supermarket chain.  (Remember, this was pre 21st century ;)  I called around in search.  My first visit to Kramer's was for Marscapone, and I knew then and there it wouldn't be my last!  They are a delightfully smaller store with a thoughtful selection of everything from Cheerios to Cuisine Perel vinegars.  I appreciate that they take on new products from local vendors, and were doing this before the word 'locavore' was coined.  Their staff is helpful, & always glad to break open a package of meat or produce if you need a smaller serving.  Their deli features Boars Head meats (yum!).  Their pricing is competitive, and they usually feature good deals on their weekly ad.
